Dubai Drama Group announces the summer production of Henrik Ibsen’s “A Doll’s House”,
First produced in 1879, “A Doll’s House” is an enduringly provocative portrayal of a woman’s suffering in a man’s world; its initial production proved so controversial that party guests were asked not to discuss it for fear of starting a fight.
Ibsen’s classic play tells the story of Nora, a seemingly doll-like housewife burdened by a secret debt. As her debtor, an employee of her husband threatens to reveal all to save his livelihood, Nora becomes torn between her obligation to her family and her independence.
Director Josie Campbell has adapted the script from a recent translation (the first female translation) to only include the 4 primary characters.
